Broadway RENTs a Rising Star

Actor/singer Ryan Link is now starring as the HIV-positive rocker "Roger Davis" in the hit musical RENT. He is one of a select few actors to be cast straight into the role on Broadway without first having been in a touring cast of the show. The role marks the actor's Broadway debut.

"It's a huge honor and responsibility," says Link of portraying the character. "Jonathan Larson's creation has profoundly affected so many people." (Larson, the playwright and composer, died of an aortic aneurysm the night before RENT's first preview.)

Before moving to New York in December 2001 to pursue an acting career, Link fronted the critically acclaimed Boston power-pop band Miss Fortune (MissF.com), which formed in 1999. Previously, he sang and played drums for several bands in his hometown of Seattle, including a popular groove-rock outfit called Salamander.

Link holds a degree in mathematics from the University of Washington. He joins the cast of RENT after having spent a year on the national tour of Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida", the Disney-produced rock musical based on Verdi's opera.

Link's current contract with the Tony-winning RENT runs through February 1, 2004. For more information, please contact What Kinda PR at (212) 979-0704, email e-mail protected from spam bots, or visit Link's website: ryanlink.com.
